Yesterday, RT.com’s weekday evening program In The Now broadcast a special program looking at the significance of the events of 70 years ago when Nazi Germany was defeated by the combined armies of the Soviet Union and the Western imperialist, sometimes friends/sometimes enemies of the Nazis. At the 19′ mark, program host Anissa Naouai speaks to filmmaker and writer Joshua Tartakovksy. He has recently returned from a reporting tour to Donetsk city and region.
At the 14′ mark, the program looks briefly at how present-day leaders of Ukraine are falsifying the history of World War Two in order to write the Soviet Union out of the story and elevate those who collaborated with Nazi Germany into a status of heros. At the 18′ mark, the program looks at the present-day rise of fascism and the extreme-right in Ukraine.
