In Germany, Ukraine

German mainstream media is strictly ‘hands off’ this story. More than half a million people have now signed an online petition putting pressure on Scholz to stop sending weapons to Ukraine. Even though the petition condemns Russia’s intervention, that is decidedly not the reason why people are signing it. Rather, they are signing in order to endorse the peition’s final paragraph, which reads: “We call on Chancellor Scholtz to stop the escalation in arms deliveries, now! He should lead a strong alliance for a ceasefire and peace negotiations at both German and European level, now! Because every lost day costs up to 1,000 more human lives and brings us closer to a 3rd World War.”
