In Digest, Solidarity with Ukrainian people, Ukraine

By New Cold War.org editors, March 10, 2015–On March 7, a protest was held outside the Spanish embassy in Athens in solidarity with the eight antifascists from Spain being persecuted by the Spanish government because of their internationalist solidarity with the people of Donbas. You can watch a video and photos of the march and rally in Athens here on YouTube or by clicking on the screen below.

The protest was organized by the Antifascist Campaign for Ukraine. Taking part were scores of antifascist activists from a wide political spectrum in Greece.

The eight Spanish men were arrested on February 27, 2015  by Spanish police and are facing criminal charges of violating laws which supposedly prohibit Spanish citizens from taking part in foreign military conflicts. None of the right-wing extremists in Spain who have traveled to fight with their counterparts in Ukraine have been charged. The eight Spanish men were released from detention within 24 hours of their arrest.
