Documentary film on Press TV (Iran), broadcast on July 17, 2015, 25′
Iran’s Press TV English language service has produced a 25-minute documentary film which looks at the dominance of Ukraine’s wealthy class of capitalists over the country.The film was broadcast by the weekly ‘Economic Divide‘ program on Press TV, hosted by Kaveh Taghvai.
The political and economic dominance of the so-called oligarchs dates back to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s and early 1990s. At that time, people with ties to wealth and to the existing state apparatus and state enterprises were able to appropriate the historic public wealth for their private interest. A wave of free-for-all privatizations of enterprises accompanied Ukraine’s accession to the new, 1991 form of independence.
