Acting Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova of the Donetsk People’s Republic

Acting Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova of the Donetsk People’s Republic explained the DPR’s Donbass reunification humanitarian programme at a round table meeting at the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament on March 7.

“Nikonorova focused on Donbass environmental safety issues,” the DPR Foreign Ministry press service said.

“She warned about a large potential threat of ecological and man-made disasters which might occur in case of incorrect operation of certain production capacities in the former Donetsk region [of Ukraine].

On February 17, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy, respectively, launched a program of humanitarian assistance for residents of Kyiv-occupied parts of Donbass [the region comprising the former Ukrainian oblasts of Donetsk and Lugansk]. They also expressed concern about the condition of key infrastructure in Kyiv-controlled territory.

The two leaders demanded access to ecologically hazardous sites by republican emergency agencies and humanitarian organizations.
