Today, March 12, 2015, at about 15.00 in the center of Lutsk, near the cinema ‘Promin’ and in front of his wife, the second secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Volyn, leader of the Volyn Komsomol and chair of the regional branch of the Anti-Fascist Committee of Ukraine, Alexandr Kononovich, was kidnapped. According to the press service of the Communist Party of Ukraine, he was hit, pushed into a car and taken to an unknown location.
Some time later, Michael Kononovich, first secretary of the Central Committee of the LKSMU, received a text message from his brother’s phone, stating that Alexandr Kononovich is being held by the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine). However, all attempts to reach him were unsuccessful — his phone has been disabled.
The Communist Party of Ukraine demands that law enforcement agencies take immediate measures to find the kidnapped Ukrainian citizen Alexandr Adamovich Kononovich and arrest his abductors.
The Communist Party also calls on SBU officials in the Volyn region to confirm or deny the illegal detention of Alexandr Kononovich by its employees.
The Communist Party of Ukraine considers the kidnapping of Alexandr Kononovich as yet another attempt to intimidate and put pressure on Communists who openly oppose the war, who demand an end to the fratricide in the Donbass and the social genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the ruling fascist junta.
